Here is what I like best about being a writer: I get to stay home with my dog and cats, I never have to wear uncomfortable clothes, and when I'm not thinking about my own book, I'm usually reading someone else's.

Here is what I like best about writing the Penderwick books: I like my characters. They make me laugh and I'm never bored with them. Also, the four Penderwick sisters do things I wish I'd done when I was young?like facing down bulls and standing up to mean grown-ups?which means I get to live parts of childhood over again, but better this time.

Someday there will be five books about the Penderwicks, but not yet. Right now there are only two, and I am working on the third. In the first book, THE PENDERWICKS, the family goes on vacation and finds a lonely boy who needs rescuing from his selfish mother. In the second book, THE PENDERWICKS ON GARDAM STREET,, the sisters have to rescue themselves from the threat of a new step-mother, but it all works out in the end.

Hi, I saw The Penderwicks on sale at the bookstore and it looked so fun I had to read it. Although I'm an adult, I LOVED the book and can't wait to read the next one. And I'll read the first one again. :)
